PhD Student
Australia

James Cook University

Maria is a PhD candidate at JCU, Cairns and is the CABAH PhD student representative.

Her research takes place in Cape York, northeast Australia, where she is studying long-term records of environmental change.

Her research involves building records of hydrological change in this area.  Detecting these changes support the interpretation of palaeoenvironmental datasets and future climate predictions.

Maria is trained in archaeology, chemistry and geography and is particularly interested in pursuing interdisciplinary research, where she can bridge the natural and social sciences.

An essential item in Maria’s toolkit:

“A Swiss army knife and a good novel.”
