Technical Officer

University of Wollongong

Lili has been working in science laboratories for almost 20 years and been successfully overseeing the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Earth & Environmental Science Geochemical Labs (including ultra-clean, particle-free geochemical lab), ICPMS labs, microscope labs and biosecurity (quarantine) labs at the University of Wollongong since 2010.

She has extensive knowledge and experience in environmental sample preparation (specialising in wet-chemical preparation) and analysis (in particular using mass spectrometry). Her PhD in Environmental Science, completed in 2016, used OSL single grain dating and organic geochemical analysis techniques to reconstruct the paleo-environmental changes in Macquarie Marshes (a Ramsar wetland in NSW, Australia).

Lili enjoys the satisfaction of problem-solving for the instruments in the lab and is always willing to learn new technique/skills. Joining CABAH in July 2020, Lili brings her curious mind and enthusiasm for exploring nature, as well as her professional skills in working in the OSL lab, to the CABAH team.

An essential item in Lili’s toolkit

“I am a Laboratory Master Chef and my essential item is your samples! Give me your ingredients (the samples), tell me your dream dish (the data you need), and I will assist you through the process of using the right tools at the right time to achieve them.”
